GCC Performing Arts announces open auditions for “Hello Herman,” 2:00-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 and 3:00-5:00 p.m, Friday, Feb. 1 in PAC-144. Callbacks will be held 5:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1.
Note: For those who cannot attend on Jan. 31 or Feb. 1, auditions can be scheduled by appointment 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2.
No appointment is necessary, and there is nothing to prepare. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and possible a short improvisation.
Play rehearsals begin Feb. 15 and performances are scheduled March 29-April 6, 2013. Performers are required to enroll in the class and pay tuition; however scholarships are offered.
The director is also accepting designers for sets, lights, costumes, props, sound, video and make up.
What drives a teenager to cross the line and become a high-school shooter? More importantly, how do we stop it? ‘Hello Herman’ is a unflinching, provocative examination of why tragic events like Columbine, Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook continue to happen in our country. Contains mature themes and language.
“Hello Herman” is written by Paul Buffalo Mailer and directed by GCC Theatre faculty member Mark Stoddard.
