Glendale Community College Dance Program is proud to present FALL, 7:30 p.m., Nov. 30; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 1; and 2 p.m., Dec. 2 in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Admission is free and open to the public.
FALL is produced and directed by GCC Dance Program Director/VERVE Dance Company Artistic Director, Andrea Hashim, with additional choreographic works by GCC Dance Faculty, Rebecca Rabideau. FALL is pleased to share the stage with a variety of professional and student guest artists. Phoenix-based professional dance companies, Altitude Aerials & Dance Company and Dulce Dance Company, will be sure to delight all audience members. GCC Dance Majors, Amy Cardwell and Anthony Uzzanti, will be completing their GCC A.A.F.A. Dance Degree by presenting to their final senior capstone choreography projects. GCC Guitar Major, Christian Pascale, will join VERVE Dance Company dancers in a beautiful solo guitar performance, while GCC Music Faculty, Dr. Christina Eide, will enchant all with a piano solo by Philip Glass.
The FALL performances reflect the variety of meanings the term “fall” entails. Each choreographic work is inspired by the term “fall”, where choreographers took the liberty to physically define this term. Choreographic works include dancers falling to the floor, suspending and falling in the air, as well as autumn leaves falling from the sky and dancers wearing costumes reflecting various colors of the fall season.
FALL is presented in the spirit of dance. Andrea Hashim follows the legacy of past GCC Dance Program Director, Lenna DeMarco. Two Lenna DeMarco Dance Scholarships will be awarded to GCC Dance Majors during this special weekend of dance.
